Launch a development site by referring to a client

When your development site is ready to go live, you can refer the hosting license purchase to your client. The client pays the subscription and your agency earns a monthly referral commission.

In this guide, you will learn how to launch a development site by sending a referral to your client.

Follow these steps to launch a development site by referring the purchase to your client:

1. Navigate to the Sites Dashboard in the Automattic for Agencies portal.
2. Open the actions menu for your development site and select “Prepare for Launch”.
3. Select “Site visibility”.

4. Click “Refer to client”.
5. Follow the instructions for referring products to customers.

Once your client completes the payment, you receive an email confirming the purchase. At this point, the site has been transferred to a production WordPress.com hosting license, but it has not yet been launched to the public.

1. Navigate to the Sites Dashboard in the Automattic for Agencies portal.
2. Open the actions menu for your development site and select “Site settings”.

3. Select “Site visibility”

4. Select “Launch your site”
