Agency tiering & benefits

Automattic for Agencies tiers are designed to reward and support agencies based on their engagement with Automattic products. We are particularly focused on inclusivity, ensuring that our tiering system rewards agencies for their contributions, no matter which Automattic product(s) they opt to specialize in or advocate for. Our aim is to create a diverse and dynamic community where agencies of all specialties and focus areas can engage and flourish.

When you move up to a new tier, you keep that tier through the end of the following calendar year. At the beginning of each new year, your tier is re-evaluated based on the revenue you generated in the previous year.

For example, if you reach the Pro Tier at any point between January 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026, you will remain at Pro through December 31, 2027, even if you do not influence any additional revenue during that time. At the end of 2027, your tier may be adjusted up or down based on your 2027 results.

To keep your tier, you must continue to meet all eligibility requirements for that tier. Any probationary or grace period related to these requirements may be provided at Automattic’s sole discretion.

• Eligibility: Free to join the Automattic for Agencies program without any minimum revenue requirements.
• Requirements: To remain active and enjoy the benefits of the agency dashboard and program, you must refer or purchase at least one Automattic product or bulk package each year.

• Eligibility:
  • Agencies must generate at least $1,200 in Influenced Automattic Revenue (IAR) across Automattic products, including, but not limited to, WooPayments, WooCommerce, WordPress VIP hosting, WordPress.com, and Pressable. All VIP referrals must be registered via the Automattic for Agencies dashboard.
  • IAR refers to the total revenue generated through the sale of Automattic products over the span of one year through the direct influence of an agency partner. This includes all confirmed client and bulk agency purchases made within the Automattic for Agencies dashboard and/or tracked via the Automattic for Agencies plugin.
• Calculating revenue recognition:
  • For WooPayments referrals: $1 of IAR will be recognized for every $100 referred in Total Payments Volume (TPV). So, $100,000 in WooPayments TPV = $1,000 IAR
  • For other products purchased or referred: Each dollar spent on products, including bulk plugin or hosting purchases, is counted as one dollar of IAR.
• Additional requirements:
  • Agency has applied and earned a feature in at least one Automattic Agency Directory listing, which may be on any of the following: Pressable, WooCommerce, Jetpack, or WordPress.com.
  • Maintain outstanding client feedback.

• Eligibility: 
  • Must generate at least $5,000 in annual Influenced Automattic Revenue (IAR).
  • Entry to the VIP Pro Partner tier is by invitation only, reflecting a high level of trust and collaboration with Automattic.
    • Agencies in the VIP Pro Partner tier must generate at least $100,000 in Influenced Automattic Revenue (IAR) across Automattic products, including, but not limited to, WooPayments, WooCommerce, WordPress VIP hosting, WordPress.com, and Pressable. All VIP referrals must be registered via the Automattic for Agencies dashboard.
  • IAR refers to the total revenue generated through the sale of Automattic products over the span of one year through the direct influence of an agency partner. This includes all confirmed client and bulk agency purchases made within the Automattic for Agencies dashboard and/or tracked via the Automattic for Agencies plugin.

Eligibility

• Invite only: Entry to the Premium Partner tier is by invitation, reflecting a high level of trust and collaboration with Automattic.
• Minimum Influenced Automattic Revenue (IAR): Agencies must generate at least $250,000 in Influenced Automattic Revenue (IAR) across Automattic products, including, but not limited to, WooPayments, WooCommerce, WordPress VIP hosting, WordPress.com, and Pressable. All VIP referrals must be registered via the Automattic for Agencies dashboard.
• IAR refers to the total revenue generated through the sale of Automattic products over the span of one year through the direct influence of an agency partner. This includes all confirmed client and bulk agency purchases made within the Automattic for Agencies dashboard and/or tracked via the Automattic for Agencies plugin.

• For other product purchases or referrals: Each dollar spent on Automattic products, including bulk plugin or hosting purchases, is counted as one dollar of IAR.

Additional Requirements

• Portfolio: Must have three or more live enterprise-scale projects in the WordPress ecosystem or three shared anchor customers. This demonstrates proven experience with large-scale implementations and the ability to support enterprise clients.
• Team Certifications: At least 30% certified developers across Automattic certifications.
